Engineered Garments drops African-inspired SS22 Collection with a message for future gens

Vintage workwear and deconstructed tailoring are among the core aesthetics at Engineered Garments. For the Spring/Summer 2022 season, Japanese designer Daiki Suzuki continues its signature utilitarian styles, now presented in a safari-themed color palette and silhouettes inspired by African landscapes and cultures.

Taking inspiration from imageries of Africa and African-inspired works by fashion brands—including Banana Republic, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ralph Lauren, Willis & Geiger, Ruff Hew, and British Khaki—back in the '80s, Engineered Garments’ latest collection, titled “The First and the Future,” aims to remind future generations the desperate need to restore the biodiversity in Africa, to save our damaged global ecosystem.

The resulting collection is a line-up of easy silhouettes with minimal lines and multiple pockets, complemented by natural colours and prints that serves as an ode to African wildlife. Key pieces include the Explorer Shirt Jacket and Over Pant in khaki. The deconstructed Work Shirt in multi-color stripes and plaid, as well as a Cover Vest in olive leaf print are also not to be missed.
