Founded in 1993 and originally called General Research, the brand is the brainchild of Setsumasa Kobayashi and then renamed "Mountain Research" to better reflect his love of the outdoors. Utilitarian and functional at heart, each season sees Kobayashi and his team retreat to the woods to envision a novel direction that usually takes cues from a wide variety of inspirations.
